Lending a Helping Hand

< Back to Articles | Time to Read: 5 minutes

This holiday season, Churchill Mortgage is volunteering time and other resources to support local charities and communities. The lender’s ongoing philanthropic efforts are led by the Churchill Foundation, which was established to organize fundraisers and volunteer events throughout the community.

On Saturday, December 10, Churchill is hosting its Family Christmas, which will feature Nashville native Joe Bradford (Papa Joe), founder of Elijah’s Heart, a non-profit organization focused on providing aid to underprivileged children and their families. The day will begin with a Walk of Love at 10 a.m. at Napier Place (located at 648 Claiborne Street in Nashville), where Churchill employees will assemble and deliver food and personal hygiene kits for each of the homes in the neighborhood. After the Walk of Love, lunch will be served at Christ Church (located at 15354 Old Hickory Blvd. in Nashville) at 2:30 p.m., followed by entertainment and award and prize giveaways at 4 p.m.

Churchill is partnering with the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree on Friday, December 16, where employees will join volunteers at 1530 Antioch Pike, Antioch, Tenn. from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. to collect, sort and package personalized gifts and necessities for less fortunate children and seniors, who would otherwise receive very little or nothing during the holiday season. Sign up for Angel Tree is available here. On Saturday, December 17, the lender will be at The Bridge at Hickory Woods assisted living facilities (located at 4220 Murfreesboro Pike, Antioch, Tenn.) from 3 – 5 p.m. for a Nail Polish Party for its senior residents. Volunteers are also encouraged to attend and visit with residents and assist with the various work stations.

“Helping others in a time of need is the foundation of our business and we consider it a privilege to lend a helping hand in any and every way possible,” said Mike Hardwick, president of Churchill Mortgage. “These initiatives, along with the many others going on across the state and our country, demonstrate how powerful individuals are when they work together to serve their neighbors. It’s an honor to join other organizations in giving back to the community.”

In addition to supporting local organizations and communities, Churchill announced in October that all proceeds from Hardwick’s recently published autobiography, “Keep Chopping Wood: A Preacher’s Son Who Had It All, Lost It All, and Then Regained True Wealth”, are being donated to charity. The book is available for purchase through WestBow Press, Amazon, and other online retailers.
